Celtic music

WARNING: Anyone who comes anywhere near this room in the near future will be subject to Celtic music!

It all started back in July…

Emily Coate and I carpooled to CTY camp. Her mother, my mother she, and I all rode in Mrs. Coate’s van. On the way it was pretty quiet, Emily working on her stuff, me working on mine, and both of us with headphones on.

Headphones went off when Mrs. Coate put music on in the car CD player. CD? Women of the World: Celtic. I had been told that I would get to hear it (Mrs. Coate was talking about being Irish), and I had guessed that it would be during the ride to camp. Hey, it was! And guess what else? The music was good! And I mean, really good!

At camp we were allowed to listen to music players while we were writing, so on the first weekend—Saturday, I think—I borrowed the CD from Emily to listen to during study hall on Sunday. It’s really good for writing. It works as background noise, and it’s soft enough that I won’t notice it much. Add that it’s calming. I don’t relax, but it doesn’t seem quite as bad with this stuff playing. (I believe I was writing the essay about Jami at the time, and that really proves the point.)

In other words, it works. Well. I had to give it back to Emily just, what? The next day, the day after? If I had kept it any longer, she wouldn’t have gotten it back. Lol, too good!

And then, while on the phone with Caitie, I heard it again. She was playing Celtic music in the background. I thought it was the same CD. Later, at school, when I complained about not having the money to buy a copy, she volunteered to make a copy on tape. Thank you, Caitie! I’ve been listening to the tape since then. Turns out that it’s not the same CD, but a different one: Celtic Voices: Women of Song. Another good CD. Another really good CD. I mean, hey, I’m carrying around a really junky tape player for this. It must be good!

I’m getting Women of the World: Celtic. I’m not sure whether I’m getting Celtic Voices: Women of Song or not. I’m getting CDs. As in, I can play them on my computer or my stereo. As in, I don’t need headphones. As in, if you pass my room in the near future, you’ll hear it!
